Dan Deacon vs. ignore MagazineJuly 11th, 2007

Yes, we interviewed Dan Deacon. Yes, we agree (mostly). Don’t care to read it? Here’s a sample:
ignore: What type of deodorant do you use on tour, being that you’re always photographed by every “alternative newspaper” ever swimming in sweaty, mega-indie crowds? And how did you arrive at this preference?
Dan Deacon: I don’t use deodorant. I haven’t used deodorant for about seven years.
ignore: Uhhh. Okay, why is that?
Dan Deacon: It gives you cancer.
Click here for the full interview, where Dan talks about hair loss, video games, Miami, the media, and rattlesnake guns.

or Don Darko?
its dan deacon right? the baltimore tag gives it away. is that pic from a video or somethign? pixelated.
This guy is unlistenable. Subjectivity, do any of you know what that means?
Someone had to popquiz Dan Deacon on that dreadful male pattern baldness. Way to go hotshots.
I loathe this guy’s music.
xxxxxxxx
Lol. The graphics for that Dan Deacon article is cleverish. I have never laughed coming across design until ten mins ago. And why are all these boobs ripping on the artist? That song “The Crystal Cat” is a trippy 2007 anthem and I’d take that over Interpol at a bar after work anyday. Don’t take music so constipatingly serious you teenage cunts. \m/
Yeah, but why didn’t they ask if he was a virgin? 5:1 odds he lives with his mom and the neighbors gossip about him. Who can’t get in a magazine these days? It is sad.
probably my favorite album this summer. and the wham city compilation is going to be even better. the interviewer could have asked more questions about, still a good read though. deacon needs more coverage like this and less concert reviews like pitchfork keeps putting up.
Hey. This is my first time seeing this site and I really like it so far. Your “advertisers/marketers” should get the word out more though in NY. The look of the features is great, Dan Deacon one particularly. Cheers, Jamie in Brooklyn.
why do i feel like i have seen this guy once every five or so years. is it like the moon’s hold on the tides. his music is not terribly by any means but i can almost calculate when a “dan deacon” will start appearing in my mailbox and now on my nightly internet prancing. do you people in the press get a letter from the labels demanding coverage of a nerdy white guy without a band to offset the flowers and maroon5s of the rockiverse? the guy is more talented and tolerable than har mar or paul barnum or kid 606 or girl talk but still. why the tar and feather hype.
i can sleep a lil better now.
from now on ignore, if you’re going to delete my posts you should delete any comments with the word punk’d in it. you sir are an embarrassment.
DAN DEACON IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL MUSIC TODAY. FUCK PITCHFORK AND THEIR TIGHTY-WHITY REVIEWERS WHO LIKE ANY WHITE GUY WHO MASHES SONGS AND NEEDS TO DIET. GREAT INTERVIEWV IGNORE. SAW IT ON STEREOGUM. ARGGGGH. I HATE YOU DEACON. AND WEIRDEST NAME FOR A MAGAZINE OF ALL TIME.
Did anyone see Idolator tear Ignore Magazine and Stereogum a new asshole to pour their obnoxious snark into? Ignore, you are unneeded on this web planet, please cease being and stop promoting Dan Deacon as badly as the helplessly clueless SG and Pitchfork.
Link to Idolator’s great lament.

in summation…
Dan Deacon
Idolator so doesn’t get it and is gazillion times worser than Gawker. They post analyzations of Spin or Rolling Stone, which have been ancient for at least ten years, and fail to see any irony in that Deacon interview, when the headline is a clear joke. Nick Denton needs to clean out his file cabinet over at Idolator and get a new logo while you’re at it. Actually, every blog in the Gawker company is archaic. “Get on the Deacon train.”
LOL. Here’s a reader’s comment from Idolator. I can’t imagine Ignore’s hits today from this crap.
Jesus fucking Christ.
Is that interview for real?
Reading “Wire” might make me look like an elitist asshole, but at least the writing isn’t crap like that.
This article is either brilliant or brain-hemmoraging on so many levels. I don’t blame Idolator that they didn’t “get it” IKLI. The interviewer reads like he is seven years old and the design makes my eyes permanenly cross. Burgers, skulls, and cats. Only thing MIA are anarchy symbols. I wish there was a video of this encounter.
If Dan Decon wore a Forfather Wig on his head and redid “Rock Me Amadauis” I might buy that album.
sorry
Did the same person correct his/er spelling of Amadeus? Holy god, this mag’s blog is attracts waterheads like flies to dino poop.
From Idolator..
“I will say that I read/ heard about this guy here before anywhere else; I will also say that i astutely pointed out at that time that this dude is not very good at making music. I have never seen blogosphere-hipster-follow-the-trend-ness in fuller effect than with this guy”
I’m sick of comments like this. I picked this out because it best represents the hate this guy faces. Dan Deacon deserves every good piece of press he gets. People forget that the Internet spews eight haters for every new fan it makes someone. That is probably a much higher ratio for Deacon. And to Ignore, I for one hope he does get a “radio hit.” He works his ass off when a blogosphere creation likeAmy Whinehouse cries every time she gets on a stage, big or small.
dan deacon is an untalented moron. while i want to say the interview is less than spectacular, i think it accurately depcits him and gives him his just desserts rather than the shit praise he gets from kids nowdays.
On having the most pointless interview posted on every music blog I’ve seen tonight.
If you type the angle sign on this blog it DOES NOT COMPUTE. I REPEAT, NO COMPUTING. My name was rightangle Pitchfork praises and it came out as Anonymous. I am drunk maybe that is something to do with it. DOES NOT COMPUTE.
Dan Deacon should cut a theme song for the Big & Tall clothing chain. Men’s Warehouse would be equally as sweet bitches! Tell me I’m wrong.
ignore + homies @ krudmart, say whuttt? holla!
He needs to take a bath ASAP
Why did Ignore try to start a fight with Deacon and Girl Talk? They’re touring together for God’s sake.
I’ve never seen so many hispter douche bags leaving comments in one place. Fuck all of you idiots. Jesus Christ…
Ignore, you are all fabulous at what you do. Keep doing it. xoxo.
